Giveaway, Review & Tour: Blind Obsession by Ella Frank

Obsession, defined as the domination of one's thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image or desire....

Chantel Rosenberg's passion for music and life had never shone brighter than the time she spent in Bordeaux France. It's a time when feelings arose and desires ran deep, a time that fundamentally changed her life.

A man living in seclusion, Phillipe Tibideau is haunted and plagued by memories he cannot disregard. Choosing to live a quiet life in his Chateau surrounded by the vineyards of France, he's left his passion for art behind.

However, the time has arrived to tell his side of a tale. A tale that has depicted him as a 'beautiful monster' and he's finally allowing someone close.

Close enough to ask questions. Questions he's not sure he wants to answer. Questions about her.

For up and coming journalist Gemma Harris, the pursuit of truth is what drives her and when a job of a lifetime presents itself there is nothing in the world that will stop her from taking it.

Even if it does mean leaving her home for several months to stay at Chateau Tibideau, with him.

This is a story of what happens when three passionate lovers collide and the desire for truth, art and music merge.

Chateau Tibideau is a place full of unanswered questions, dark sinful desire and a beauty so hauntingly sad it will have you wondering how you will ever leave the same.....

Blind Obsession is totally different from Ella’s Exquisite series.  It is dark, haunting, twisted and will stay with you long after reading.  I read this book before going to bed and I had a hard time sleeping.  My thoughts were all scrambled up and a big blender and I couldn’t get myself settled.  Even though I finished yesterday, I am still feeling unease.

Now, don’t get me wrong, my unease is not about not liking the book.  I did like it.  It was very thought provoking.  My unease came in when, I thought of myself in Gemma’s shoes and what I would do in them.  I am not sure I could have made the choices she did and been able to live with myself.

Phillipe to me was so unbelievably broken and hurt that I had a hard time wrapping my head around his feelings. They are so destitute and raw.  Our journey to find out why he is this way is one I couldn’t put down.  I wanted to know more.  I wanted to know the why.

“God, you’re so naïve. I’m not just broken.  I’m twisted inside my own f*****g nightmare that never goes away.  I’m f****d on the inside.  You’re only seeing what I want to show you.”

Ella did a great job sucking me in and holding my attention through this book.  It was a whole new experience the way that she set this one up.  I was literally in the chateau with Phillipe and Gemma. I was feeling their feelings.  I was immersed in them.

With is this being Ella’s first erotic book, she did a very hot job of being very descriptive and focusing a lot on the feelings that were going on with each of the characters.  These scenes were sexy and hot!

While Gemma is the lead woman in this story, there is also another woman who is as prominent as her.  The way Ella wrote her was very inventive and very intimate.  I give her kudos for this because this was not an easy task.

Overall, this book is a total mindf**k, but you will love it!

First off I would like to say a big thank you to Michele, for having me here today at Reality Bites to talk about my new erotic novel, Blind Obsession.

The question Michele has asked of me for this post today is - what was my inspiration behind this novel and how does it differ from my two contemporary novels Exquisite and Entice?

When this idea first came to my mind I was wrapping up Entice and getting ready to sit down and write Edible. The problem was, I kept having flashes of a troubled artist and he was always behind a canvas entranced by a beautiful woman playing the violin. Immediately, I saw her as someone in his past and I started to hunt around for my favorite violin pieces. The pieces she played for him.

Finally, when I sat down at the computer and started to write about the man I kept visualizing and that I was finally meeting for the first time, and yes it felt like I was meeting him, Gemma was born. That is how and why Gemma is written the way she is. Gemma came to life because I wanted to be there in the château learning about Phillipe and since I couldn’t put my name in the story, I added someone to tell the tale. I wanted every person who picked this book up to feel as though they were sitting opposite Phillipe and learning about him.

Blind Obsession, as a story, differs from the Exquisite series in so many ways. To start with the genre is different, its erotica which gave me the freedom to delve into a darker side of myself. This story is a tragedy at its core. It wasn’t an easy story to write and I don’t feel it is an easy book to read. It is a story about the way people deal with emotions that are bigger than themselves and how it changes them as a person.
I believe a good erotica is a story that intertwines with erotic, carnal sexual situations. The two need to mesh and they must enhance each other. In Blind Obsession my hope was to create that. I wanted the sexual situations and encounters to be woven into the plot and to allow the reader to feel the desperation and darkness the characters did, whereas, in my contemporary romances they are much lighter and a romance is at the core.

Another major part of this book is the visual and musical aspect of it. I really ‘saw’ this book in my mind. I felt as though I was there at the château with the three of them and the more I sat down and listened to the music I was writing about, the more I thought about how it would be such an amazing experience if I could share this with the reader. So I set out to make it happen and I really hope that it invites the reader to understand my mind and my vision that much more.

I want to thank Michele for taking the time to read Blind Obsession and I appreciate the opportunity she is affording me to be able to offer you all an off to win an ARC copy of Blind Obsession.

Warmly,

Ella

Giveaway & Review: Real by Katy Evans

5 Hearts

A fallen boxer.
A woman with a broken dream.
A competition…

He even makes me forget my name. One night was all it took, and I forgot everything and anything except the sexy fighter in the ring who sets my mind ablaze and my body on fire with wanting…

Remington Tate is the strongest, most confusing man I’ve ever met in my life.

He’s the star of the dangerous underground fighting circuit, and I’m drawn to him as I’ve never been drawn to anything in my life. I forget who I am, what I want, with just one look from him. When he’s near, I need to remind myself that I am strong–but he is stronger. And now it’s my job to keep his body working like a perfect machine, his taut muscles primed and ready to break the bones of his next opponents . . .

But the one he’s most threatening to, now, is me.

I want him. I want him without fear. Without reservations.

If only I knew for sure what it is that he wants from me?

REAL – April 9 2013
Mature New Adult/Adult Contemporary Romance - recommended for ages 18 and up.

**ARC provided by author for an honest review**

This book takes you on a roller coaster ride called Remy. And let me tell you, it is one you want to ride again and again and again! He is a beautifully complex man. He will steal your heart from the moment you meet him. And have you wishing you were Brooke over and over!

When Brooke sees Remy for the first time it is definitely lust at first sight.

"His face is suddenly before me, illuminated by the lights, and I just stare like an idiot from my place. My god.
My.
God.
Dark scruffy jaw
Boyish smile. Man's body.
Killer tan.
A shiver shoots down my spine as I helplessly drink in the entire package everyone else is gaping at."

Brooke, who is normally not that kinda girl, if ya know what I mean *wink wink*,  is more then willing to give in to the lust she is feeling for Remy. Especially when she is summoned to his hotel room after a fight.

"Remington Tate is everything I've never, ever done, and I have a condom tucked in my bag, and I suddenly know exactly why I put it in there."

But instead she is shocked to learn he wants to offer her a job. Needless to say, she accepts as it is a great opportunity for her. But it also means taking things to the next level with Remy is off the table. Right?

But Brooke didn't plan on how hard it would be to touch Remy day in and day out. Or the feelings she would develop for him. The want she feels for him just continues to grow until she is one big bundle of nerves. And if she doesn't get a release soon, she may very well explode.

"I want him so bad, sometimes I just want to hit him in the head and haul him into my woman's cave, where nobody's opinion matters but mine. And I say we go ay it all night long and that's that."

Remy is not willing though. He wants her to know him before they take things to that next level.

"I want to be your fucking REAL! You get that? If I fuck you, I want you to belong to me. To be mine. I want you to give yourself me, not Riptide!"

The journey that is Remy and Brooke's is hot. It is sweet, scary,  unfulfilling, fulfilling, smexy, heartbreaking, crazy, intense, beautiful, oh did I mention hot?! Brooke is the perfect balance that Remy needs in his life. She is his chance at happiness that he has never been given. And Remy will do anything to prove his feeling for Brooke. and he sets out to do that many times through out this book.

Kudos are in order for Ms. Evans for taking writing to a whole new level. She makes you FEEL every single word you read. There will be moments you will be thanking her for that and others you will be hunting her down to give her a piece of your mind. But that is what made this story so.....REAL!!

Winner will receive their book on the evening of 4/8.

This book really played with my emotions. All I kept thinking pretty much from the beginning was "I hope she doesn't fall for Ethan's crap". But like all naive 18 year olds, he reeled Valerie in hook, line and sinker. And I hated every moment of it.

This book takes you on the roller coaster that is Valerie and Ethan's relationship. And there were rarely any high points to it. He just was a selfish human being all the way through. Don't get me wrong, I believe he loved her in some way, as much as he was capable of loving I guess. But I hated how he sucked her back in every single damn time!

And Natalie wore on my nerves at times. She knew that Ethan was toxic, but he kept letting him have control over her. And every time I thought she had wised up, she goes and falls for his bs again.

But there are other moments in the book that make the hell of Natalie and Ethan worth it. And that would be the men in Natalie's life that showed her how she deserved to be treated. The ones that touched her life and taught her about herself in ways Ethan never could. For me, those were the highlights that had me holding on until the very end, hoping Natalie would make a better decision for herself.

And boy oh boy, what an ending! There is a HEA that you really not see coming until it happens. It was just what I needed after everything I felt while reading this book.

If you are looking for some angst, first love, unrequited love, piss you off MC mixed in with hot rockers along with HEA and no cliff hanger, then this is just the book for you.

While shopping in the supermarket with her young son, Esther locks eyes with a man from her past that she knows very very well. He's also the father of her 2 yr. old son although he doesn't know that. Yet. Then the earth begins to shake beneath her feet. Literally.

In line at the market sensual memories begin to flash through Toby's mind after spotting a woman he had a fling with a couple years back in Fiji while on holiday. When the earthquake starts he notices that she is struggling to get her son out of a shopping cart safety belt.  After he rips the strap apart they duck for cover.

Once out of the ruble of the market they see the utter devastation left behind. Toby is reluctant to leave Esther but compelled to help others who may be trapped. He tells her he is going to start to look for people and asks..

How will I find you again?”
“I’ll find you,” she said. She must have seen the wariness in his face, because her expression softened.
“I promise.”
His gaze fell to Charlie.“Is… is he mine?” She swallowed. Then she gave a small nod.

After seeing Toby and admitting that her son Charlie is his she is hit with a barrage of emotions. Her parents are both gone. Charlie is the only one she has. Esther has always been fiercely independent. Depending on no one but herself to get by. But now that Toby knows about Charlie, what will happen? Does he want to step up and be a dad?

Esther keeps her word, she finds Toby and they walk to her place to find it destroyed. Toby offers her and his son, Charlie, a place to stay and she accepts. Soon the magnetic charge these two have for one another fills the room with thick sexual tension. And that tension escalates when Esther finds the Naughty Nights Game in Toby's bedroom.

Naughty Nights is a card game that has it's players role play a sexual scene written on the card. Wanting more time with both Esther and Charlie. Toby invites Esther to fly back home with him where he will be attending a friends wedding. She agrees to her and Charlie staying with him for a week. Of course they also agree to play the Naughty Nights Game during that week as well. **wiggles eyebrows suggestively**

Role playing games of pleasure unleash feelings these two both held for each other but never made good on after Fiji.

How long can they continue to play this game thinking that at the end of the week they'll be able to walk away from each other? Again. And how long will Esther keep her secret concerning Charlie's birth from Toby?

If you are a smut lover I highly recommend this! Along with the smut we get a guy, Toby, who seems to never measure up.. Well, at least that is he never measures up as far as his friends and family is concerned. Those insecurities play a big role in his decision making and unfortunately he makes some bad ones.

Then there is Esther she is young and ambitious. After wanting more from Toby in Fiji she takes his non acceptance for a relationship as a slap in the face. It's hard for her to move past it... Eventually she does but not before admitting some things that she know will hurt him.

My Thoughts
The sex scenes in this book was scorching hot!!! The writing was good we get great character interaction, witty commentary, and lot's of sexy moments. I felt the sex did not overwhelm the story which I know can be a problem for some people, so no worries there.

Dear readers,
If you are looking for something sexy and lighthearted with some very steamy love scenes then this book is for you.

My Ratings
Characters- Lovable
Writing Style- Fun and Savory
Plot/Storyline- Fair
Steam Factor- High/Very Steamy
Overall- I liked it!!! Check it out!!

Now go forth and read. Then come tell us about it!

Review: Relentless (Shattered Hearts #1) by Cassia Leo

4 Hearts

Goodreads Summary
Claire Nixon is a twenty-year-old college dropout with a secret.

To Claire, Adam Parker is just another flirty customer at the cafe, until a chance encounter and seemingly innocent comment spurs a bet between them. The bet is simple: If Adam can get Claire to reveal the secret that made her drop out of college, she has to re-enroll. If he doesn’t succeed, she gets to keep her secret and he has to stop stalking her at the cafe.

Claire thinks she has this one in the bag. She’s perfected the art of forgetting her past. But she isn’t prepared for Adam’s relentless pursuit or for him to share his own secrets. And she’s definitely not prepared for her rock star ex, and her secret, to come banging down her door one year later.

New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language, drug use, and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

My Thoughts
4.5 Hearts

This book starts with a very broken Claire. She is living life but not really living it. Does that make sense? She gets up and functions like a normal person is supposed to, but inside she is carrying a secret that little by little is eating away at her. She hides away him her apartment when she isn't at work and is self medicating by mediating 10+ times a day. It has become her crutch and the only way she knows to make it through the day.

Then she meets Adam. He is the hot new neighbor that seems to only have eyes for her. He is relentless in his pursuit of her and even more so in determining what it is she is hiding. But after a while, though that still is very much a factor in their growing relationship, it becomes more like the elephant in the room. It is there but neither of them are really talking about it.

And like everyone else, Adam is carrying around some baggage of his own. But unlike Claire, he is more willing to open up about his past, especially when his feeling for her continue to become stronger. It is still not enough for Claire to share her secret. In the beginning, it was just not something she wanted to talk about. But now, she too has feeling for Adam and she is now worried if he knows what she did, he won't want her anymore.

Let me say, I thought I had her secret all figured out from the little clues the author drops in the form of Claire's memories. But in reality, I HAD NO FREAKIN' CLUE!! When the truth comes out, it blew me away! Definitely not what I was expecting.

This book ROCKED MY WORLD!! I seriously do not know why I put off reading it for so long. It was nothing like I was expecting it to be. It was so much more and then some. Which brings me to my rating. I so wanted to give this one 5 hearts. But the thing that held me back is, we do not get the full story. This book leaves us with Claire needing to make an important decision on top of some major changes that are happening in her life. So, right now I am only giving it 4.5, though I may come back and change it once I have the full story.

Review: The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines #3) by Richelle Mead

The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines #3)

5 Hearts

“I’ll just love you whether you want me to or not.”

Oh my god, that line! My heart. My heart… Eeee! Seriously? Chapter 2!? Yessss! The Indigo Spell definitely starts off with a bang. Right away we are thrust into this exciting new dynamic post Adrian’s declaration of love to Sydney in The Golden Lily. This book had a very different feel than both of the previous books in the series and although I loved both of them, I REALLY LOVED this one!!

The Indigo Spell really has two main stories going at once. There is the mystery of Marcus Finch who we learned about in The Golden Lily. Who is he? Did he really used to be an Alchemist? How did he escape? What does he want now? So many questions surround this guy and I really, really enjoyed that part of the story… Sydney discovering the answers to all those questions and in doing so bringing about her own questions about what she wants for herself and her own future with or without the Alchemists “organization.”

Then, there is the magical powers storyline and how Sydney is a natural. We learn here that someone is using magic to do some pretty awful things to young girls. Ms. Terwilliger has obviously taken an interest in Sydney in the past books and she doesn’t let up in this one either. Without giving it all away, Ms. T uses Sydney to help find more information in these gruesome incidents which in turns means Sydney must be more involved in wielding her magical abilities.

Meanwhile, the romance of Sydney and Adrian weaved throughout these two main storylines. When I said in my review for TGL that I “see lots of angst, flirting, and UST coming,” I was seriously right. Adrian, while still being his arrogant, lovable self, is extremely open with his feeling for Sage throughout the entire book.

"I love you, and beneath all that logic, calculation, and superstition, I know you love me too."

As much as Sydney would like to deny her feelings for him, she is actually aware of them in this book. That is huge, because in The Golden Lilyshe is so completely oblivious to her or Adrian’s feelings.

In fact, as I sat beside him in the car, I had a difficult time not thinking about how it had felt to be pressed up against him. Or how his fingers had felt entangled in my hair. Or how his lips had— Sydney! Stop. Think of something else. Conjugate Latin verbs. Recite the periodic table.

Adrian is always there for Sydney, her partner in crime as she discovers new things about Marcus, the incidents with the girls, her powers, everything. This is really quite awesome because it means lots and lots of face time for Adrian. Whoohoo! I enjoyed every second of him laying it all out there no matter how much she tried to deny what was happening. Which by the way did drive me absolutely CRAZY at times. I wanted to smack her to wake the hell up! I have always really loved Sydney and her awkward, literal, quirky ways, but there were times in this that she definitely tested my patience.

“Are you seriously in this much self-denial, Sydney? Like do you actually believe yourself when you say you don’t feel anything? Especially after what’s been happening between us?”

And while there are plenty of intense, chill inducing, heart racing moments, there is still that perfect amount of humor that I come to expect from this series.

“White what?” I almost sat down but was afraid the chair might dematerialize beneath me.
“It’s a drink,” he said. “You’d think I wouldn’t be into something named that—you know, considering my own personal experience with Russians. But they’re surprisingly delicious. The drinks, not real Russians. They’ve got Kahlua. It might be the drink you’ve been waiting your whole life for.”
...
“Let me get this straight. The future of our relationship hinged on advice from a fifteen-year-old girl, a probably untrue story from a one-eyed Chihuahua trainer, and me unromantically—yet skillfully—kissing you on top of silverware and china?”

This was such a phenomenal addition to the series and the romance junkie in me is so glad we got loads of Adrian and Sydney together in general, but I was really surprised how many steamy, romantic moments there were. I am really liking the direction the series is taking. It will be interesting to see how Sydney juggles the Alchemists, her magical abilities, Adrian, and her family in the next book. What I'm most excited about is getting Adrian's POV too! It does make me a little nervous about why we might be getting his point of view though. As much as I desperately want the A Fiery Heart right now, the ending of this one was pretty tame in terms of cliffhangers. It actually made me chuckle to myself in an "of course that is happening" way and say, “okay, bring it on!”

“You’re my flame in the dark. We chase away the shadows around each other.”
