I’m not sure what I was thinking that day.

It was a normal Thursday, nothing new or exciting had occurred in the morning.

I’d risen from bed, taken a shower and brushed my teeth. I’d then jumped on the 8:05 bus that ran a short distance between my house and the county library where I worked.

The ride took its usual 15 minutes before it left me standing fresh faced in front of a building of gothic construction that was my favorite place in the world.

After straightening my knee length skirt, I pushed open the door that led into the interior of the library.

It was at that moment that my world would change – impossibly and forever. It was a fateful movement of wood that collided with the shoulder of a man that would alter my very existence.

It wasn’t fear that I felt at that moment – more like the feeling of being watched. It was the feeling of knowing that danger lurks - the sensation of the hair standing on end at the back of your neck.

Looking back on a moment that happened so many months ago, I now realize that I should have listened to that feeling.

As I would later find out, the man standing in front of me referred to himself as Master Lucas…

…and I was his next target.

Autumn is a prude, plain and simple. She has decided to sit in judgment of "those" books the library she works in carries, without having cracked a spine on any of them. You know the ones I am talking about, the stories that don't deliver the traditional HEA. The ones that delve into the darker side of things. But then, she meets one of the very authors that she has decided to shun and unknowingly sets up a chain of events that will turn her prudish ways around.

Lucas is intrigued by Autumn from the moment she runs into at the library. He is in the process of writing his latest novel and is having a hard time hearing the victim's voice for this particular story. That is, until Autumn. You know that old saying about curiosity killing the cat? Yeah, I don't think Autumn quite caught onto that one. She should have went with her initial instincts when it came to Lucas. Instead, she allows herself to be lured into his web. The very one he gave her the clues to avoid, but she chose not to listen.

I really liked the mystery aspect that was in this book. The "who done it" and "what happened to..," kept me turning the pages to find out where the story was going to take me. And I have to say, I wasn't expecting the answers I got! There were some parts that were just...eh. I felt like Autumn's submission to Lucas came just a little too easily. Regardless of the circumstances that led her to him, based on her character traits in the beginning of the book, I figured she would put up more of a fight.

Overall, I would say this made for a very interesting read. This is my second Lily White book and it certainly won't be my last. Target This is definitely not as dark and twisted as Her Master's Courtesan, but still just as good. I would say this particular book is a good introduction into the darker reads if you have yet to venture into that genre.

Just a side note, everytime Lucas called Autumn "Ms. Cleary", all I kept hearing in my head was Hannibal Lecter's voice. You know, Clarice, Ms. Cleary...get it?! Yeah, nevermind! LOL

“You were supposed to finish an interview today for an article that was supposed to go live tomorrow. Now, because of you, and YOU alone, the blog has to run some bullshit fluff piece to fill the spot. How many fucking times do I have to tell you to check your fucking calendar?!”
Taking three steps forward, I was nose to nose with her, smiling to feel the heat of anger roll along her skin. “Do you know that you are absolutely irresistible when you’re mad? I love angry women. They are so much more enjoyable to bring to their knees.” I winked at the same time I felt her hand close around my balls. She squeezed and I sucked in a breath in an attempt to alleviate the slight pain.
With her fingers still curled around the most sensitive part of my body, she smiled sweetly, tilting her head to say, “I’ll only be on my knees because I’ll be busy holding your body prostrate on the floor.” The tip of her tongue flicked along my cheek as she leaned in to whisper, “What do you say, Lucas. Care to see who can be the better Dom?”
Laughing, I pushed her away before setting my briefcase on the floor and stripping off my jacket. “My apologies for fucking up yet another ‘assignment’, but I was working on the book. You know how I get.”
“I’m familiar.” Her four inch heels clicked behind me as I made my way into the kitchen. “Tell me that you at least finished your quest for the perfect victim and we are back on track with the book.”
When I turned back to look at her, I noticed how her hair was disheveled and her clothes weren’t as immaculately coordinated as normal. “You look like shit.”
Flicking me off, she sashayed over to the bar, pushing herself up onto the stool and crossing her legs in a seductive, exaggerated manner. “I didn’t get much sleep last night. I had a mission, remember?”
Curling my lips into a wicked grin, I nodded. “Of course.” I didn’t ask for more information than she gave. Sarah was the type of person to accomplish a task and move on satisfied with the result. Dragging her back through the miniscule details of the path leading to that result was useless. The woman was all about bottom lines. She had my utmost respect for always using her strength and intelligence to her advantage.
“But, back to the book, Lucas, what’s going on with it?”
Pulling the glasses from my face, I placed them on the counter. “It’s going.  I think I have my rabbit in her hole, so to speak. It’s just a matter of reaching in and grabbing her. She’s had a rough couple of days. I hate to take advantage…”
“Oh, who are you kidding? Advantage is the only thing you take. But she’ll love you for it - they all do.” Examining her fingernails, she added, “Plus multiple orgasms will probably put her in a better mood. Take all the advantage you want, just make it quick. We’re …”
“Running out of time. I know.”

Lily White is a dark writer who likes to dabble on the taboo side of eroticism. Most of the time she can be found wandering around aimlessly while her mind is stuck in some twisted power play between two characters in her head. You may recognize her in public by the confused expression, random mumbling, and occasional giggle while thinking up a scene.

Lily’s favorite things in life are reading, thinking about reading, buying books for reading….and writing. Her other secret pleasure is meeting with her plot editor in public to discuss her books and watching the shocked expressions of the people around her that don’t realize she’s talking about a book. When Lily is not reading, writing, wandering or freaking out innocent bystanders, she’s sleeping.
