The Mistaken definitely caught me off guard. Though it is not my usual choice in reading material the detour it provided was very much appreciated. The twist and turns right up to the very end had my mind spinning.

Nick and Tyler Karras are brothers yet they’re complete opposites. Were Tyler is the settled down good one, Nick is the one who parties who is always getting in to trouble or maybe trouble just finds him. Either way Tyler constantly has to bail Nick out of a jam and recently this trouble seems to be mafia connected.

In between cleaning up mess after mess his brother makes Tyler and his girlfriend Jillian get married. Now expecting their first child together life may not be perfect but the expectation of their newborn’s arrival has overshadowed all the bad. And thank goodness for that because things were really really bad at one point.

However things can change quickly in life and when Jillian is faced with an injustice and the cops do nothing... Everything starts to take a downward spiral as Jillian seeks to face Erin; the woman who should rightfully be behind bars for a crime committed against her.

THEN

 

 All so suddenly tragedy strikes leaving Tyler a widower and desperate; in a place no man wants to be.

An angry alcoholic, with nothing left to lose.

‘There was no hope in my heart, no reason to stop my downward spiral and straighten out my life. The very realization only made me want to drink more. And I did, for the rest of the day and most of the night.’

Tyler’s younger brother Nick knows exactly what it feels like to be in his shoes and he feeds the demons that have a pidgin hold on Tyler. You see, Nick crossed over to the dark side a few years back after a life altering tragedy changed him. Pain filled drunken confessions bring to life an evil plan to hurt Erin.
And Nick adds fuel to the flames when he uses his connections with the Russian mafia help him and Tyler do the unthinkable.

The plan is to kidnap Erin and sell her into the world of sex trafficking.

 


And that is when everything goes super duper wrong.
THEY KIDNAP THE WRONG GIRL and it’s too late to turn back now because the deal was made, they must deliver the girl. OR ELSE.

 

Hannah…Poor Hannah my heart hurt for this woman. I can’t explain why but Hannah is The Mistaken .

Was Hannah at the wrong place at the wrong time? I think not. But what I think does not matter because once she is spotted she officially becomes the target.

Tyler can’t do it. He cannot turn Hannah over to be a sex slave and he vows to protect her. But how good is the word of a drunk, with nothing left to lose?

Running from the mafia brings Tyler and Hannah closer. But how does she know if she can really trust him. Can he correct his mistake and hand over the right girl in enough time? Heck, is that even an option now?

 

Slowly Hannah begins to fall for her captor, Tyler, who has wounds that are still raw from the death of his wife.


My Thoughts
Seriously people READ THIS BOOK! It’s different and as you read and see all the pieces fall in to place as the innocent lives of Tyler and Hannah are woven together. You will be left speechless.
The tension between these two brothers is crazy; you can definitely feel the jealousy that one harbors for the other. They love one another yet hate each others actions, this caused for some really tense moments throughout the book.

This Mistaken was high octane. There are moments when it moved fast and then moments when it slowed but the slowdowns only came in the first 30% after that the book takes off. So many lives are affected and so many emotions play out. Readers will get a little bit of everything

Ok, back to the review
Axel has been carrying around the anger and pain for the loss of his first love for over a decade. His brothers know all about it too because he has no qualms letting people know his feelings about Izzy.
When his anger at seeing her after all these years collides with her shock… Emotions reach an all time high of EPIC PROPORTIONS.

But do not get it twisted once the smoke clears he claims his female in true alpha male form! MINE.

This book was right up my alley an uber alpha male and a woman in need of his protection. Seriously what more can a girl ask for.. OH WAIT, I KNOW! MORE UBER ALPHA MALE HOTTIES! THAT’S WHAT! *Grinning* The testosterone oozed off the pages. Literally.


Harper Sloan kept me glued to my Kindle, I was totally sucked in from the first page! I immensely enjoyed her writing style! And I very much look forward to her work in the future!

Reality Bites! Is very happy to have Harper Sloan take out the time to chat with us!

 

1)      How did Axel’s character come to be? Axel was actually the first and only thing I knew for sure would happen.  I had him, his looks, his background…everything planned before I even thought about who else would play a part.  He just popped in my head and wouldn’t leave.  He’s stubborn like that.  J 

 

2)      Do you already have a female lineup of characters established in your mind for the remaining males in the Corps Security series?  YES!  Each and every hero officially has their lady named and ready to cause some trouble!  I’m particularly in love with Greg’s woman, Melissa.

 

3)      Which  scene did you find yourself having to rewrite the most? Good question!  That’s a toss-up between the prologue and the dock scene.  The prologue for obvious reasons…it’s so very hard to put myself in that scene and feel like I was able to convey the emotions and pain correctly AND tastefully.  I didn’t want to go too far but at the same time I didn’t want to leave out the emotion needed to understand Izzy.  As for the dock scene…it was hard for me to get Axel’s emotions out and still keep his integrity as a character.  I think I rewrote that one about 15 times.

 

4)      When you first decided to write this book, did you initially plan to name it Axel? If not what other names did you have for the book? It was always about him.  Well…that’s a lie.  Before I had only planned on one book.  I didn’t plan on making the supporting characters as big as they were.  I never got past wanting to have ‘fate’ in the title…then the more I wrote and the stronger those other sexy men became in my head…the Corps Security series was born.  And after that…the titles were the easy part!  J

 

5)      Who are some of your favorite authors and how have they inspired you? THIS is a tough one.  I am a HUGE Kristen Ashley fan.  When I read my first KA book I was hooked and demanded more alpha men.  Trouble with that, they are almost impossible to find like she makes them.  That was when I found the indie author world and I was hooked.  Katy Evans, Andrea Smith, Jay Crownrover, Ella Frank…there are so many more…oh so many.  I feel like I have forgotten someone—and I hate that, but just know there are so many amazing women that I look up to like you wouldn’t believe!

 

6)      Do you have any other book/s you’re currently working on? Or is the Corps Security series your top priority as of right now? The Corps boys are my only priority right now.  Maybe down the road some straggler will take up residence in my brain and refuse to leave—but for now I have my hands full with these men!

I have to admit, I was a little confused as to how after all these years, not one person had told Julia anything about Micah and what he was going through. The only think I could chalk it up to was the fact maybe they thought she didn't want to hear about him? And then when she did find out, she forgave him rather quickly. Like 3 days quickly, if you know what I mean (wink wink!). 

Julia and Micah can't seem to stay away from one another. The more time they spend with each other, the harder it is to fight all those feelings that resurface. It brings to question, do you ever really get over your first love? And if presented with the opportunity to try again with them, would you?

As the story progresses, so does the relationship between Micah and Julia. But it all seems to be too much too fast for Julia. And she gets spooked when he makes an off handed comment about parenthood. Julia makes the decision to run. But this time, Micah isn't letting her go without a fight. He had to let her go once and he knows he can't so it again. He is willing to do whatever it takes to make it work. Will that be enough? Well, you are just going to have to read the book to find out!

With the exception of three years spent in the middle of Nebraska, H.B. Heinzer has called southern Wisconsin home.
