Review: Belong to Me (Wicked Lovers #5 ) by Shayla Black

5 Star Read

For 12 years, Logan has felt empty and lost.  He is a well decorated Navy SEAL, who is also a Dom and club Dominion.  Logan's loss comes from the one who  got away.....his cherry.  He has loved Cherry since he was sixteen years old, but had to leave her to keep her safe; unbeknownst to her.

Tara is an FBI agent on a case close to her heart.  Her best friend was sent to a BDSM resort in hopes of catching a human trafficker and hasn't been heard from for days.  Tara is set on finding her, but to do that she has to undergo dom/sub training.  When her agent partner is not hacking the dom role, she is in need of a trainer.

Tara is Logan's Cherry and upon seeing her again, he will do anything and everything to win her love and trust back.  Tara will fight like hell to keep her heart from being broken all over again.

Oh.....did I mention that Tara is engaged.  Yeah..she is; to a man that has never ever made her feel the way Logan does with one touch.  So you can surmise what happens here!!  It is totally fun to read how it happens though!

All throughout Tara's 'training', Logan is doing his best to prepare her for what lays ahead.  Tara learns most about herself and what she really wants.

My Thoughts:

This is by far one of my favorites in the Wicked Lovers Series!

I adore Logan.  He has a heart of gold and is so protective of Tara.  His love for her was perfectly clear from the beginning.  I loved reading about how he was knocking down those walls!

Tara was totally relateable in the 'girl who got her hear broke' way.  She is unbelievably strong and courageous.  The things she does to help her friend are the showings of what a true friend is.

The scenes between these two are sizzling and very well written,  I could feel Logan's dominance and Tara's apprehension.  LOVED IT!

The adventure these two went on is what sealed the deal for this book.  It wasn't just about sex.  It was about the connection between these two people and watching it grow.

I loved the mystery of who did it.  It totally blew my mind and I loved every second of it!

Overall, highly recommended book!  Loved the characters, plot and steam of this book!

Review: Bloodlines (Bloodlines #1) by Richelle Mead

4 Stars!

YAY! Bloodlines! Getting back into the Vampire Academy world is AWESOME!

I was a little late jumping on the VA train, I only finished the series last month and it is one of my favorite YA series! So, getting more of this world is so much fun since I am already so invested. I would definitely recommend reading the VA series before Bloodlines. I don’t think you’ll be able to fully understand/appreciate the characters and what is going on without reading it beforehand. Beware! There are massive spoilers if you haven’t read Vampire Academy…

Bloodlines is told in Sydney Sage’s POV. She is an Alchemist, which is someone who pretty much cleans up and tries to prevent vampire-related incidents in the human world. It is a job passed down throughout her family and one they take very seriously. Her whole life she has been taught that vampires are evil creatures. Because of the actions Sydney took during VA to help Rose, she is on thin ice with her father and the Alchemists. Even to the extent that she has been called a “vamp lover” which is a very derogatory term in their eyes.

This book picks up shortly after where the final VA left off, with Lissa beginning her reign as Queen. Due to the crazy vampire laws, this has put Lissa and her half-sister, Jill in great danger. To eliminate possible threats against Jill, it is decided that it would be best for her to be moved and hide out in Palm Springs for a while. This is what brings Sydney, Adrian, Eddie, and Jill all together (they have to pretend to be siblings. LOL!)

The relationships between all the characters were so drastically different. There is history between some and not much between others, but lots of FEELINGS, whether good or bad. It was really interesting trying to guess how all the characters feel about one another and who may develop deeper connections throughout the series.
Sydney and Adrian’s umm… friendship? was one of my favorite parts of the whole book. They don’t quite know what to make of each other, but there is curiosity there and I loved the banter! And Adrian calls Sydney “Sage” swoooon! <3 He is just so much freaking awesome! He is such a brat, but in a completely charming way and his humor is perfection! I want more of them. I really, really, really hope their developing friendship turns into much more as the series progresses!

“Sage, aren’t you guys supposed to have uniforms? This looks like what you usually wear.” “Cute.” I said, suppressing an eye roll. Adrian gave me a mock bow. “Careful. You almost smiled.”

Sydney is a great heroine for this series. She is such a drastic change from Rose’s badass self in VA. Sydney is so smart and she has such a passion for learning and excelling. She is a complex character, although she is much stricter in her beliefs about rules, she still has a compassionate side that takes over when someone needs her help. I love how she thinks, she is so in her head all the time, analyzing things rather than just feeling.

“I’d never been in love and had no point of reference to really judge. Base on what I’d observed in others, I assumed it was an amazing thing… but for now, I was too busy with my job to notice its absence. I wondered if I should be disappointed by that.”

Throughout the book we meet quite a few new characters as well. I was constantly trying to determine who was going to be important to the story, who may not be what they seem, who was lying, who was be honest. I was always questioning EVERYTHING in this book. I was a suspicious, conspiracy theorist the whole time! There are a few pretty big twists and possibly shockers throughout that definitely kept things interesting.

I felt like this book was a good introduction to this spin-off series. There were parts where it dragged a bit, but I was still interested the whole time. The last 20 pages or so really start to set up the second book and I am really excited to see what is going to come! And the last line! OMG, so excited and nervous!

A solid 4 stars for a promising start to the Bloodlines series!

Review: Pretending He's Mine by Lauren Blakely

4 Heart Review

Goodreads Summary
Once upon a time in New York City, there was a down-on-his-luck actor named Reeve, who was talented and gorgeous in that dreamy, broody sort of way that makes all the women swoon. But show biz is a rough biz – he lost out on a part in a big film, and now his day job hours have been cut too. What’s a handsome young thing in need of a role to do?

Enter Sutton Brenner. She’s sexy and shrewd and the most top-notch casting director there is. She’s this close to landing a coveted gig casting a film based on a best-selling mega-romance novel, but there’s a catch. After one too many transgressions with lovely single ladies, the film’s philandering producer has been put on a short leash by his wife, who’s forbidden him from working with anyone unattached.

So the happily single Sutton strikes a pact with Reeve – play the role of her fiancee until she closes the deal, and he’s guaranteed to get an audition for the starring role in the film. But as the two play pretend, the lines between make-believe and matters of the heart start to blur. Especially after that hot night in the balcony of the Broadway theater. And that scorching afternoon in the stacks of the New York Public Library. Who’s playing who? Or is someone else really the director in the secret affair of their lives?

PRETENDING HE’S MINE is a 30,000 word companion novella in the New York Times and USA Today bestselling CAUGHT UP IN US series. (It’s not necessary to have read CAUGHT UP IN US to enjoy PRETENDING HE’S MINE. This is not a sequel. However, CAUGHT UP IN US fans should be pleased to know that Jill has several scenes and that both Kat and Bryan appear in a key scene in this novella!)

My Thoughts
**ARC provided by author for an honest review**

I have to admit, I am usually not a fan of novellas. But after reading Caught Up in Us, I had to give this one is a try because I really loved Lauren Blakely's writing style. And i am glad i did! Pretending He's Mine has shown me that a novella can be done and give you all you need of the characters when well written.

Sutton and Reeve have some hot chemistry! I knew from the moment she propositioned him with the whole fake fiancé thing, it wouldn't be long before they did the horizontal tango.

There are so many scorching hot scenes between these two but I think my favorite would be the bar. And all Reeve was doing there is TALKING to her. It was so erotic though, to hear him telling her all the places he wanted to kiss her. Made me wish I was Sutton!!

 photo kissing_fwfi683l_zps57fc143f.gif

But this is all just pretend, right? That is what Sutton keeps telling herself. And Reeve isn't quite sure what to make of any of it. He couldn't be failing for Sutton after only a week, could he?

As I said in the beginning of my review, this is a novella, so it is very short. But I loved it and felt I got just what I needed to enjoy the characters and their story. I also liked getting a little Kat and Bryan peek in there too. So, if you are looking for a hot, steamy afternoon read, this is just the book for you!

Giveaway, Tour & Review: Infatuation (Club Destiny #4)

REVIEW

4.5 Stars

Infatuation is the 5th book in the Club Destiny series.  If you haven't read the first 4 books (one is a novella), I strongly recommend you do before reading this one!!  They are not stand alone books. The story continues throughout all of them and you will miss a lot!!!

Tag Murphy is a very well established lawyer working for both XTX and Club Destiny.  He is very good friends with both Luke and Logan McCoy and this is how we meet him initially.  His ‘non-traditional’ lifestyle lands him as the third in Logan and Sam’s relationship.  Up until this point, he has been totally happy with being the third.  This way he doesn’t have to feel or have any of those pesky connections with anyone.  He’s just these for the pure pleasure of sex.  This is until a fiery red head catches his eye and his thoughts begin to drift to not ever wanting to share again.
McKenna Thorne owns her own website, Sensations Inc.  It focuses on all the ‘naughty’ things the world has to offer sexually.  She does not see them as naughty by any means.  She thoroughly enjoys her job and what she offers her clientele.

With the case of Susan against Sierra catching tons of interest that McKenna’s readers want to know more about, she finds herself trying to interview the gorgeous, bald, brooding hunk of a lawyer that she has had her eyes on the past few months.  When he declines, she decides that other tactics are needed and uses her website to do so.

Along with an interview, McKenna wants to know more about the private area of Club Destiny and its owners Luke and Logan.  She vows to only to only speak the truth if granted the interviews.
Tag does one better, at least for him.  Under the total reluctance of both Luke and Logan, Tag offers McKenna a seven day stay with him alone in his private room at Club Destiny.  At which point, he will show her exactly what she desires to know.

My Thoughts:

I absolutely LOVE this series of books!  If you haven’t read them, they are a must!

I loved the buildup of Tag and McKenna’s relationship.  The lust between them…then growing into more…and not being seen.  The roller-coaster of emotions, lust, desire, jealousy, timidness, fear……all of them are so fun!

I adore that we learn more about the entire clan:  Luke, Logan, Cole, Alex, Sierra, Sam, Alex and Ashleigh!!  I love that they are in the throes of all the drama going on throughout this story.  It kept me connected to them while still growing with Tan and McKenna.  We get to find out their growth from the previous Club Destiny books.

There are parts of this book that will knock fans on their ass and say Noooooooooooo!!!!  You will have happy moments, sad and definitely aroused ones!

And don’t freaking miss the epilogue!

Overall, Nicole did another great job in this series!  Highly recommend it to all erotic romance readers!

Thoughts

Dear Readers,
I loved this book waaay better than the first book!
And book 1 was G O O D!
Book 2 offers tons of fun new characters. The writing style and storylines remain solid and the characters are even more appetizing; which I thoroughly enjoyed! The only teensy weensy problem I had was the grammatical errors. Ummm there was a little more than a few so I definitely noticed them. However I inhaled this book regardless, I was literally SUCKED IN from page 1.

My Ratings
Characters- Lovable
Writing Style- Fun, Witty, and Savory
Plot/Storyline- Unputdownable, and fast paced with a touch of Suspense
Steam Factor- High/Very Steamy
Overall- I LOVED IT! READ IT!!

Warning: This book has mature content and is best suited for readers 16 and older.

Now go forth and read. Then come tell us all about it!

Giveaway, Review & Blog Tour: Rocked Under by Cora Hawks

4.5 Hearts

Goodreads Summary
Falling in love isn't always easy or pleasant. The intense and angst-filled story of Emma and Scott is a painful, gut-wrenching and exhausting portrayal of how hard it can be to let go...

Nineteen year-old Emma Harrington’s number one rule is; Never give your heart away to a man, no matter what. That lesson was learned early on in her life and she will never forget it.

Starting over in the USA, Emma starts college with her cousin, Ashley. She is finally free to do and live how she wants and no man will ever rule her decisions or emotions again.

That is until Scott Mason walks on stage…

Intense, bad boy Scott is the lead singer in a local and popular rock band. Ladies man and Ashley’s longtime friend, Emma is instantly drawn to him, even though he is everything she hates and needs to stay away from in a guy. He treats females like he does a cigarette; light it, use it, and lose it.

For her cousin’s sake, she makes an effort to get along with Scott. She soon discovers that there is more to Scott which makes him even more dangerous in her eyes. Underneath the façade of friendship; jealousy, obsession, fear and insecurities, fester and battle it out as she fights her attraction and history from repeating itself.

One thing she knows for sure is that if she breaks her rule, it may destroy her.

Warning: Contains mature content. Recommended age 17+

My Thoughts
**copy of book provided for honest review**

4.5 Hearts

The heat between Emma and Scott was scorching HAWT in this book. Every time they were together , even if it was only making eye contact across a room, you could feel the sexual tension. The build up for these two was nothing short of intense. It was like months and months of foreplay!

Although there is an instant connection between Emma and Scott, they continue to just be friends. Well, as much as one can be friends with the one they want so much more with. Emma believes Scott is too much like her father and all she stands to gain from being with him is a broken heart.

It leads to some uncomfortable situations, especially for Emma when she starts dating someone else. The tension between them continues to grow until they finally reach their breaking point. Words are spoken that neither mean. Feeling are hurt and it seems there is no going back.
But the draw is just too strong. The feelings they both leave unspoken can only be hidden for so long. Everyone else sees how they feel for each other but Emma nor Scott can admit it to each other. All they continue to do is hurt each other unnecessarily. Scott acts like he cares for Emma, yet he continues to parade woman after woman in front of her. And Emma keeps lashing out at him in any way she can. She doesn't want to hurt him but he seems to bring out her inner bitch.

The roller coaster of emotions this book takes you on is nauseating at times. Emma comes across as selfish. Even though she knew she was leading Scott on, she couldn't seem to stop. And Scott was just as bad. How could he ever expect Emma to believe she stood a chance at being something more to him as long as he keeps up his man whore image.
Things finally come to a head. They stop resisting the inevitable.

And in the heat of passion the words that have remained unspoken are finally confessed. But this is only the beginning for Emma and Scott. Now we wait for the second book to see if this newly formed relationship can survive what is to come.

Release date: December 17th 2012
Genre: Romance
Age Group: New Adult

Book Description:

It seemed only natural to nickname them the ‘Onslow Boys’. Every time they swaggered in the front door of the Onslow Hotel after a hard week’s work, their laughter was loud and genuine as they settled onto their bar stools. I peeked through the restaurant partition, a flimsy divider between my world and theirs. I couldn’t help but smile whenever I saw them, saw him ... Toby Morrison.

Quiet seventeen-year-old Tess doesn’t relish the thought of a summertime job. She wants nothing more than to forget the past haunts of high school and have fun with her best friends before the dreaded Year Twelve begins.
To Tess, summer is when everything happens: riding bikes down to the lake, watching the fireworks at the Onslow Show and water bomb fights at the sweltering Sunday markets.

How did she let her friends talk her into working?

After first-shift disasters, rude, wealthy tourists and a taunting ex-boyfriend, Tess is convinced nothing good can come of working her summer away. However, Tess finds unlikely allies in a group of locals dubbed ‘The Onslow Boys’, who are old enough to drive cars, drink beer and not worry about curfews. Tess’s summer of working expands her world with a series of first times with new friends, forbidden love and heartbreaking chaos.

All with the one boy she has never been able to forget.

It will be a summer she will always remember.

Excerpt
“Don’t you dare.” I grabbed his arm, pulling him backwards. His eyes darted to where my hand rested on him. I didn’t move my hand, I couldn’t physically bring myself to break the contact; all of a sudden there were no smiles, no jokes, just him and me and our space on the couch. I could only hear the music and be aware of the heat of his skin and the rapid rise and fall of my chest in this moment.
The only thing that snapped me out of my daze was Toby’s words which seemed low and raspy.
“Is Adam your boyfriend?” His gaze flicked over my face as he waited for my answer. My mouth gaped open; I couldn’t hide the fact I was dumbfounded by the question.
I blinked quickly and took my hand from his arm. I struggled to construct a legible sentence.
“Oh – um, no, we’re just friends, it’s not like that.”
His stony expression didn’t falter, didn’t reveal any kind of emotion. He was so hard to read, and I wanted to read him so badly. He gave a small nod and handed me the CD cover.
“Better go and make sure these guys aren’t cheating.” And without another word, he got up and headed towards the pool table.

Inspiration for BOYS OF SUMMER
By C. J. Dugan
It was something that has been churning in my mind since I was a little girl, even if it was something no more mapped out than a group of friends hanging lakeside over a summer. It was an idea that has manifested into an entire world and I felt that I owed it to that eleven-year-old little me to develop it into a story. I know I was eleven because I had found an old exercise book with the story plotted out in my child-like handwriting and I could seldom believe it was something that had been swimming around in my subconscious for so long. It fell perfectly in line with me doing NaNo that year (National Novel Writing Month) and that was that, in one month I smashed out the bones of ‘The Boys of Summer’ (TBoS). In writing TBoS I really wanted to capture the essence of growing up in Australia. I set it in a small fictional lake side town in the 90’s to give it a certain flavor and provide a rich setting for a coming of age story, it is an absolute labor of love.

Book Tour & Giveaway: Fender Bender by Niecey Roy

FENDER BENDER BLUES blurb
Her life took a wrong turn. He's driven by success. They didn't count on crashing into love...

Rachel Bennett loved her job until the day she finds herself doubting her choices.  Now she's hunting for a new career, but starting over isn't easy.  Her plan is simple—no distractions until she finds her dream job.  She didn't plan on fate throwing her a curveball in the form of a fender bender with a sexy guy in an expensive suit.

Craig Larsen is a wealthy, successful business owner with a plan of his own: survive his current PR nightmare and stay away from his overly determined ex-girlfriend.  His need for control and personal success is turned upside down when he meets Rach, a sassy redhead who can't drive.

Soon they find themselves battling with Rach's grumpy old neighbor, toilet-papering the trees of a high school nemesis, and fighting over the last slice of pizza.  Can two very different people plus one fender bender equal a chance at forever?

FENDER BENDER BLUES EXCERPT:

“Now what?”
“Nothing.”Rach sniffed.
Craig shifted to eye her warily. “Since when do you answer me with single words?”
“Since I decided I’m not talking to you,” she answered with a shrug, crumpling up the white paper wrapper from her sub.
Craig leaned his face in close to her neck and enjoyed the startled jerk of her shoulders. Her eyes opened wide in surprise. His breath shifted a few strands of hair at the nape of her neck as he whispered, “Why, because you want me?”
“You’re incorrigible,” she said, breathless, her cheeks flushed.
She’s enjoying this. The thought pleased him. Rach was on her back beside him now, her eyes closed. He glanced around the park to see if anyone was watching. No one was. He could swoop in for a kiss and no one would catch him. No one would care, he told himself. She won’t mind
“I can feel you staring.”
Craig smiled down at her. “So what.”
She peeked at him with one green eye. “So stop it.”
“And if I don’t?” Maybe she’d tackle him, push him down on the blanket and…
She didn’t. She promptly closed her eye and went back to pretending indifference. “I’ll hit you, that’s what.”
“Not if I do this, you won’t.”

She nipped his bottom lip and sent heat sliding through his body. The woman could kiss.
She whispered soft against his lips, “Now why don’t you admit that it’s you who wants me.”
