Grey has known Ben and Jagger since she was five years old, they have grown up together and are a tight team. As they enter into their teenage years and they all begin to develop into young adults, both boys realise their growing attraction to Grey. Ben makes his move first and gets the girl. From the age of 13 until they are 20 he has Grey. Just before they are about to get married he tragically dies.
Two years later and Grey is still grieving the death of Ben. Jagger has been right beside her the whole way through, giving her comfort and love when she needed it the most. He understands what she is going through. He lost his best friend too and I think that Grey forgets that, she gets so caught up in her own grieving that she doesn't seem to think about how Ben's death affected Jagger too.
"Don't be scared. I will always take care of you, I will always put your heart before my own, and I will never push you for more than you're willing to give me" - Jagger
Jagger is in love with Grey, he has been for nine years and he has watched her fall in love with his best friend, standing on the sideline as their relationship played out right in front of him. He wants her so badly but the time has to be right for her. He knows he can't push anything onto her but one night Grey makes a surprising discovery about Jagger that sends her running.
Grey can't keep running though and she has to face up to what she is feeling and balance that with the guilt she has at her feeling of betraying Ben's memory. Jagger is hoping that one day she will be able to give herself fully to him, without the cloud of Ben looming over them. Grey just needs time to work through all the confusion she is feeling in her heart.
Will Grey finally be able to lay Ben to rest in the past but still honor his memory? This is the only way she will be able to love Jagger in the same way that he loves her.
This was such a bittersweet story about second chance love and two people who are destined to be together but they didn't take the short cut in finding their way to each other. Another beautiful love story from Molly.
