He was everything she never wanted. Yet, she couldn’t stop thinking about him.
Soulful, amber eyes
A sex, drugs, and rock n’roll reputation
A body that beckoned for sin
Three years ago Rochelle Floros was living her dream come true… then lost it all. On the worst day of her life, the last person she expected to be there for her was a rock star and tabloid favorite. Now, she’s trying to rebuild her life after the tragedy that destroyed her fairytale. Slowly, she found herself captivated by a sexy, bad boy drummer she had known for years.
Rochelle was caught between the grief that shrouded her heart and the charismatic man that made it race. What she didn’t know is if he was being sincere or toying with her heart. The Redemption is about finding the pulse of your soul in the most unlikely places and giving love a chance to grow.
Can what she wants really be what she needs? With his rhythm and her passion, can they make music together? Or will their harmony be lost forever?
The Redemption is a standalone novel. The Resistance is a standalone novel, but the two books share characters and background.
“When we let go of the anger, we find clarity in
the remains” - Rochelle
This is a stand alone
novel about one of the band members from The Resistance but it does include
some of the characters we met in The Resistance.
Rochelle was left
widowed after her partner Cory was tragically killed in an accident, leaving
her to raise her two sons and cope with the grief of losing the man she loved.
Dex is the drummer in
The Resistance and has led the very clichéd rock star lifestyle. One thing has been constant though, the love
he has had for Rochelle since he first met her as a teenager. He has quietly watched her fall in love with
another man and have a family with him. He
has been there for her and the boys as she grieved the loss of Cory.
“He’s just here, silently supportive without asking
anything of me’ - Rochelle
Dex has a lot going on
in his life, he is a recovering drug addict and has a lot of issues in his
family. All of this plays on his mind as
he quietly goes on with his life. He
wants to be with Rochelle but he has so many doubts about being worthy of her
and her boys. He knows that he has to
work through all of his issues if he wants to truly give himself over to
her.
Dex had me absolutely
swooning. He is so good at the small but
sweet gestures that he makes with Rochelle and the boys, that they will leave
you completely falling in love with him.
He has such a way with words, he puts a lot of thought and feeling into
everything he says to Rochelle – he will take your breath away :)
“She’s the sun when it sets and my moon when it
rises. My day begins and ends with her
on my mind” - Dex
Rochelle is still
struggling with the grief she feels over losing Cory, it’s been nearly 3 years and
Dex has quietly worked his way into her heart.
He knows she needs time and space before she is ready to take any steps
forward with him. Don’t even get me started on
how Dex is with Neil and CJ, seriously, he is so sweet with them, I had tears
in my eyes often and my ovaries went boom!
So we have two people,
feeling extraordinary things for each other but they each need to deal with
their past to move forward into their ‘Neverland.’
“My feelings for you are real. But for you, I’ll be
your Peter Pan and you can pretend to be Wendy and we’ll
stay in Neverland until you’re
ready to see that Neverland doesn’t have to live only in our imaginations.” - Dex
This is a beautifully
told epic love story that completely swept me up, had me crying happy tears and
I absolutely loved it!
I give this 5 stars.
“Here’s the truth of the matter. If we do this... again,
there’s no going back to
square one tomorrow. Not for me. I won’t be able to act like
I don’t care about you, like
I haven’t thought about you every day since we were together
last. So it’s easier to stop
now than later.”
With a discouraged sigh, I say, “You’re stronger than me,
Dex.”
“No, I just know my greatest weakness is the woman beneath
me right now.” He
rolls over sighing in a way that shows frustration has set
in. Turning his head to me, he
says, “I want to fuck you so bad, but I also want to do all
that making love stuff too. And
if we do that, I can’t pretend it didn’t happen.” He sits up
and walks to the other side of
the room, leaning his back against the wall.
I prop myself up on my elbows, caught by the heaviness of
the emotions I’m
suddenly feeling for him.
“Go to sleep tonight. Fly home tomorrow.” He walks into the
shadow of the
entryway. “I’ll see you in a few weeks.”
I hear the door open as I fall back on the bed, my own
sexual frustration setting in.
But just when I hear the door close, the weight of his body
lands on top of me and he
kisses me hard. Surprised, my eyes fly open, but then I go
for it just like him and kiss
him back with just as much passion. He pushes off of me
again and stands between my
legs. “I make very few promises in life, but this one I can
make to you. Rochelle Floros,
I’m coming for you. It’s our time, so get ready for me.” He
turns abruptly and leaves me
sitting there stunned... and tingly.
