Rock Chick Revenge (Rock Chick #5)

By Kristen Ashley

 LUKE!  LUKE!!   LUKE!!!

This was by far the best in the Rock Chick series in my opinion.  I loved the action and love!  *sigh*

Ava is scarred from her past.  She grew up Fatty, Fatty, Four Eyes and had horrible sisters that degraded her at every opportunity.  Ava has sworn off men.  She is tired of getting used, abused and stolen from.  She is not going to get used again.

When Ava’s BFF Sissy gets herself into some trouble with her husband, Ava knows she needs to help.  Sissy’s husband is a lowdown dirty, cheating, womanizing, mobster scoundrel!  He is a very bad man.  Dom has even hit on and kissed Ava (without her permission) in front of Sissy!  Sissy has had enough and she wants out of the marriage.  Ava has vowed to help her get away.

Ava is in need of a PI and who better than Lucas Stark.  She grew up next to Luke and has been in love with him since she was 8 years old.  The last time she saw Luke was at his father’s funeral.  He was very sweet to her as always and wanted to meet her after for coffee.  Ava was more than willing to go, until she heard her dreadful sisters making fun of her and Luke together.  At that point, she vowed that she was going to avoid Luke until she was a bombshell that she knew she could be.  Ava hired a personal trainer Riley and began to work on herself.

Upon entering the Nightingale offices, she rethinks asking Luke for help.  She just doesn’t think she can handle it.  But everyone in the office holds her there until Luke arrives.  I absolutely loved all the banter between all the characters during this first encounter.  The comments of here it goes again etc.  I laughed and laughed!  Loved it!!! Luke doesn’t recognize Ava upon meeting her.  Has no clue.

Of course Luke helps her!

Luke---SWOON!—I wish I had a picture of this hottie!  Ripped, dark hair, mussels everywhere and of course the mustache!  He has had his own busted up past.  He and his father fought all the time.  He was a rebel and loved to ride his motorcycle.  We know lots from Luke from the other stories in this series too--such as his thing with Jules and Roxie.  Those these come out too.  And cause lots of drama!

We meet Dom-Sissy’s husband, Ren-Dom’s cousin who has the hots for Ava, Uncle Vito-Ren’s dad and mob boss, Lucky and Santo-Ren’s bodyguards, Riley-Ava’s personal trainer who also has the hots for her along with many others.

Sherleen!  I love her!  She’s a hilarious woman and I love how she takes Ava under her wing and into the Rock Chick’s group!

I loved the action in this book.  I missed it in book 4.  There is so much!  Shootings, rape scenes, fighting, lovin’, car bombs, German shepherds, duct tape!!  I loved how this book just kept me on my toes and kept going!  I didn’t want to stop reading and surely didn’t want to go to bed!

I love how this one included all the Rock Chicks, Hot Bunch, Tex, Duke, Stevie and Tod!  This series is such a family that I miss when they are not all involved!  I also loved seeing Lee’s soft side again too!  I get so used to seeing his tough guy that I miss his sweetness sometimes!

Quotes I loved from this book:

““I will not calm down,” she was still yelling and she turned her eyes to Luke.  “Where were you when this happened, stud?” Oh no.  Sissy was channeling Olivia Newton-John from Grease.  It was never good when Sissy channeled Sandy’s Pink Lady from the finale.”

“I figured the Nightingale Investigations job application form had the question ‘Are you hot? Yes. No. If you answered no, please exit the building.’”

Letting Go (Mitchell Family Series #1) by Jennifer Foor

Letting Go (Mitchell Family Series #1)

By Jennifer Foor

What’s a girl to do?

After catching her boyfriend (well they weren’t technically together-but kinda were) with another woman, Savanna high tales it out of his place.  Ty knows he screwed up and goes in search for her only he’s had a bit too much to drink.  Ty ends up in a horrible car accident and ends up in a coma for six months.  Savanna’s guilt is waning on her.  She feels that if she didn’t run that night, he wouldn’t have gotten into the accident.

Savanna has sat with Ty every day for 6 months, only leaving to go to class, which she is very dedicated to school.  She and Ty’s friends have shunned her and Ty’s parents blame her for the accident too.  Savanna prays that Ty will wake up, but he never does.

Colt, a southern boy and total gentleman, comes to town to help Ty’s dad with the farm since Ty is down and out.  Colt is Ty’s cousin.

Sparks fly between Savanna and Colt, but she tries to hold back.  Well at least for 24 hours right.  It’s been a long time.

When Ty wakes up, all of it blows up.  Colt is in love with Savanna.  Savanna feels obligated to Ty.  Savanna is in love with Colt though.

I did like this story.  It is a college romance, but doesn’t focus on the college aspect entirely.  Colt and Savanna’s connection is wonderful.  I felt them growing together and becoming one.  I like how Colt let Savanna deal with what was going on in her head.

I felt pissed at Ty.  He was a womanizer and cheat!  I did feel really bad for Savanna when she found out about his cheating ways.

This story did have a lot of ‘How did I get myself into this mess.’ By the 100th time of it, it did get old.  I just think that it could have been written more angsty in that sense.  Drag you in a little more.

The next book out will be Ty’s story. I’m looking forward to it!  I didn’t like Ty at all at first, but he grew on me and I like his change.  I do hope he finds his Savanna.

Rock Chick Renegade (Rock Chick #4)

By Kristen Ashley

First thing I want to say is I LOVE HOW KRISTEN ASHLEY’S CHARACTERS SPEAK WITH THEIR EYES!  While I’m reading, I can see it and feel it.  I love how descriptive she is and love seeing the fires in her characters eyes! Ahhhh!!!

This is Vance’s story.  Oh yeah…and Jules.

Jules.  She is a modern day renegade, hence the title.  She is a social worker at the local teen shelter and works very hard to set teens on the right path.  After the death of one of her kids, she sets out to stop drug dealers by wrapping their cars with saran wrap and throwing smoke bombs at them.  Yes, you read right.  That is how she thinks she’s helping.  It’s a good thought, but mostly just annoying them.  But what we also learn is that she is being trained by 3 ‘good guys’ well kinda.  She knows how to shoot a gun and she knows how to defend herself.  When trouble begins coming her way, she becomes the ‘Law’ and actually begins to get street credit—at least to the kids she works with.

Jules makes a stupid mistake.  She ends up shooting the tires out of a drug dealer’s car—right in front of Fortnum’s.  Oh yeah and all the Hot Bunch guys..  But Jules doesn’t realize that she caught the eye of Vance and now he has become very protective.

We really didn’t learn much about Vance in the previous books.  I admit my initial connection wasn’t there like it was with the other guys.  But he is super-hot. Vance is a man of very few words.  We learn that he has had a very rough life.  I felt for him as a man and a little boy.

When Jules gets in a bit over her head with catching these drug dealers, Vance is there to help her out.  She is a bit reluctant at first, but of course like all the Rock Chicks—she gives in.

I do admit that I was waiting for the impulsive kidnapping, torcher, blood, fighting—but I didn’t get much with this story.  It seemed to be one of the mellower ones.  Jules did kick a couple of guy’s asses oh yeah and some skanks, but it wasn’t like the other books.  As I know each one is different, I get used to the way Kristen’s writing was in the previous books.  Therefore, I missed that part of it.  I also missed the other Rock Chicks.  They were in this book, but not as much as the others.

I gave it 3.5 stars, but rated it 4 because there are no half stars!  I do love reading about the Rock Chicks.

I can’t wait to read about Luke next!!!!

A Table for Three by Lainey Reese

Table for Three

By Lainey Reese

This book was pretty much all sex the first six chapters.

Riley always wanted to move to New York.  She got her opportunity when the bank she worked for had a job opening.  She jumped at the chance.  Her first night there, she asks the cab driver to take her to a hot New York Club.  Little did she know her life would be forever changed.

Cade, the club owner, sees Riley sitting at a table all by herself with most of New York’s hot and heavy looking at her with lust.  Cade decides he wants her for himself.  After club sex and a night with Cade, Riley is lovin’ the feeling of him.

One thing that Cade didn’t tell her yet is that he shares---with his best friend Trevor.

Cade and Trevor have been sharing their women for a long time.  They do not have sex with each other.  They are totally focused on the woman’s needs.  When Riley wakes up in Cade’s bed with another man staring at her, she initially freaks out. But Trevor is hot…so what the hell.

Add in the mix a psycho woman that wants Cade and Trevor’s money—oh and Riley out of the picture and that is the bulk of the storyline.

I read this series out of order.  I read #2 ------ first.  I loved #2.  This one was okay. The sex scenes were hot, but there were so many of them—that I kinda got bored.  I know I can’t believe that I am writing this!  It was mostly sex and not much story to it.  Even with the psycho woman doing her thing, it was anti-climactic.  I was glad that I read it though because I did want to know how these three go together.  I just wish there was more story to it.

I give it 3.5 stars—but on here I rounded to 4—mostly because the sex scenes were so hot.  I always thought I could never have too much sex in a book—maybe I was wrong.

Masters of Arms (Rescue Me #1) by by Kallypso Masters

Masters of Arms (Rescue Me #1)

by Kallypso Masters

Summary by Goodreads
Masters at Arms begins the journey of three men, each on a quest for honor, acceptance, and to ease his unspoken pain. Their paths cross at one of the darkest points in their lives. As they try to come to terms with the aftermath--forging an unbreakable bond--will they ever truly become masters of their own fates? Or would fate become masters of them? (Book One in the Rescue Me series about the men who own the Masters at Arms BDSM Club.) AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is an introduction to the series, but does NOT have the Happily Ever After endings that will come in the next three romance novels in the series. Being the back-story that usually is not told in "real time," there are some intense themes in the book, including death of a spouse, incest, torture, a battle scene, and amputation.

I could not finish this book.  Did not do it for me at all. I may try it again at a later time.

Blindfolded Innocence

Blindfolded Innocence

By Alessandra Torre

In looking at the cover of this book, I almost didn’t read it.  I don’t know what it was but it did not wow me.  You know what they say—don’t judge a book by its cover—well this is the book that falls in that category.

Julia Campbell, a pre-law student, has just broken off her engagement.  She is now free, well until she begins her internship at a prestigious law firm. Her boss has warned her to stay away from one of the partners in the firm, Brad De Luca.  He tells her that De Luca is bad news and she needs to stay clear of him.

Brad De Luca is one of the best divorce attorneys.  Brad has made quite a reputation for himself.  He has slept with pretty much every woman that has crossed his path, including his clients.  He is straight forward and very persuasive.  He does things his way—always.  He is also incredibly hot!!!

Julia, who loves a challenge, does pretty good at staying away from De Luca.  She only meets him once and concludes that he is a jerk and wants to keep away from him, but continues to think about him. She doesn’t want to risk her internship.

Then a phone call comes to Brad and it peaks his interest in Julia and he has to meet her.  Really meet her.  Julia does very good at holding him at arms-length, but Brad LOVES a challenge.  He lives for it.  So the hunt is on!

The hunt goes to Vegas where I guess---what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas????  Hmmm.. not sure about that one.  There is so much that happens in Vegas.  The bottom line for me was….I wanted to kick and scream at Brad here.  I was pissed at him.  All I could think was WTF???  Who in the hell would do that???  Obviously him!

There is lots sexual tension between Brad and Julia.  There are m/f, f/f and m/f/m scenes in this book.

I really enjoyed this book and didn’t want it to end.  I wanted to know what was going to happen.  I stayed up until 2am trying to stay away to finish it.  I didn’t want to put it down.  I am super excited for the second book and am so glad that I got past the cover!

Rock Chick Redemption (#3) by Kristen Ashley

Rock Chick Redemption (Rock Chick #3)

By Kristen Ashley

This is my favorite Rock Chick book so far.  I love Hank and I love the humor in this book.

Rock Chick Redemption is Hank’s story.  Oh, yes..and Roxie’s!

Roxie is on the run from an abusive ex who won’t take no for an answer.  She has tried everything to get rid of him and now she things she has a full proof plan to do just that.

She goes to Denver to visit her Uncle Tex. (I fully admit that I’m an idiot. It took me till chapter 2 to realize who her Uncle Tex was…..DUH!)

Anyway, away from my stupidity.

When entering Fortnum’s, she runs into the Hot Boy Brigade and lays eye on Hank.  Roxie is trying to get away from one man and doesn’t want another, but see instant sparks with Hank.

Quote:  “It looked like GQ was having a convention and all the best looking guys had decided to have coffee at Fortnum’s before going to seminars on how to cope with being really, unbelievably, fucking gorgeous.”

And he wastes no time showing her and everyone else his automatic interest.

Quote:  “’Fuckin’ A, Roxie.   Right On!’  Uncle Tex boomed and I stared, not knowing what in the hell he was talking about. ‘What?’ I asked.  Uncle Tex didn’t answer me, he looked to Mace and Vance and declared, ‘You boys gotta learn to move faster or all the good ones’ll be gone.’”

I loved this line.  I could just imagine the boys sitting there and listening to Tex yell!  Ahhhh…

Hank Nightingale—swoon—holy hotness of a man.  Words to describe Hank:  hunk, sweet, honest, loving, caring, hardworking, protective, hot, cop.  Just to name the ones off the top of my head!  Hank falls instantly for Roxie and knows she has trouble immediately.  He doesn’t know what trouble, just knows that she has it.  It fires up his protectiveness instantly.  He doesn’t care what it is, just knows that she is his.

We embark on a roller coaster ride of kidnapping, guns, blood, love, hate, lust, selflessness, haunted houses and sex to name a few.  It is a freaking awesome ride!!!!!  This is the third book in the series and my favorite so far.  I loved this story and clung on to it.  I laughed my ass off with Roxie’s parents.  I loved them. Their banter was freaking hilarious and had me rolling!  I also loved that all the characters are there and are building their lives.  I love learning about all them.

I can’t wait for the next one!  Bring it!
