As I write this, my heart is still pounding in my chest as I deal with all the feelings and emotions swirling around in my head. Reading this story is like being dragged through a bush backwards, slapped in the face and then lifting you face up to the sun to feel warmth and contentment. So yeah, a thrill of a ride!

I read this on my phone, my ipod, my ipad, in the car, in bed, soaking in the hot tub - basically I could not stop reading this and when I wasn't, I was thinking about it. It pretty much consumed me for 24 hours. I loved every moment of Ky and Lilah's story and let me tell you, it was not a pretty story but one that needed to be told.

We met Lilah at the end of It Ain't Me Babe. She was rescued from the cult that Mae came from and is one of the 'cursed.' Cursed women are, in a nutshell, beautiful. If you have a beautiful face and a lovely body then you are punished because you are declared as the spawn from satan. Your beauty tempts men to want to touch you and have sex with you.

The difference between Mae and Lilah is that Mae left the cult of her own free will and Lilah was 'saved' by the Hades Hangmen, at Mae's request. Lilah is terrified of the outside world she now lives in and is desperate to return to her people, to the only world she has known. When I read about Lilah's past, growing up and how she came to be one of the 'cursed' I felt just sick to my stomach with what this beautiful young woman has had to endure. No matter how long she is away from the confines of the cult, she still believes what has been drilled into her since she was a child.

Ky has been captivated by Lilah since she crawled out of that cell, the day they rescued Mae and took Lilah and Maddie to the safety of the compound. Lilah is all Ky's wildest fantasies come true and he cannot get her out of his head. No matter how many club whores he sleeps with or how much alcohol he drowns himself in, he is completely drawn to her. Lilah begins to soften to Ky and a slow but steady friendship develops between this unlikely duo.

It is inevitable that these two begin to feel so much for each other, even bad ass, murdering bikers have hearts that can succumb to the feelings of falling in love. Ky cannot control what he is feeling for Lilah and she too is experiencing love for the first time, in a way she never knew existed. Lilah is still very much controlled by her thoughts and what she knows, in her mind, to be true. Does Ky really love her or is he now cursed? Has he fallen under her temptress spell, lured in by her beauty, like all the other men in her past?

There is evil lurking just around the corner too. Prophet David has been succeeded by Prophet Cain and the order has grown into a huge community. They are determined to seek revenge on the Hades Hangmen for taking the 'cursed' women and killing many in their quest to flee the commune. Cain wants Mae by his side to help him lead his people to salvation and fulfill the teachings of the Prophet David.

All of this adds up to a captivating, heart stomping, breath catching story that left me stunned, happy and heart broken all at once. Yep, I got all those amazing book feels and I cannot wait to read about Maddie and Flame, bring it on Tillie!

I shifted my eyes to a silent and pensive Maddie who was sitting on her bed, her arms wrapped around her curled-up legs as I paced the dark hardwood floor. I continued. “Where is Mae? I must speak with her at once!”

Maddie sighed in exasperation and gazed longingly out of the single window of our small apartment—the one we never ever left apart from to go to do our daily prayers by the river, escorted by Mae. Styx’s apartment was above this so-called “biker club” in which we were incarcerated, The Hades Hangmen, whatever on Earth that was.

What I did know was it was a living hell in which we had been forced to exist after being ripped from our home, ripped from all we knew: the commune. The Order. The Lord’s Prophet. We belonged with God’s Chosen Ones. It was the only way to claim our salvation from being born of the devil, born as sinful seductresses. Instead, we had been plucked from our people and dropped into this den of evil. We did not know what had happened to our people, after these so-called Hangmen had fired on our brothers and sisters. They killed our prophet! All this just a few short weeks ago.

I hate it here. Hated every single thing about it: the daily sinful acts of debauchery taking place downstairs in that louche bar, the violence I witnessed, the guns, and especially the men. Especially… him. Ky. The Hades Hangmen whore. The man who grinned at me whenever in my presence, licking his lips in that absurdly salacious way.

He made my skin shiver. He might be beautiful on the outside, all long blond hair and crystal-blue eyes, but he had a corrupted soul.

He cannot be trusted… None of them could be trusted.
