One Tiny Lie (Ten Tiny Breaths #2)
By: K.A. Tucker
Livie has always been the stable one of the two Cleary sisters, handling her parents' tragic death and Kacey's self-destructive phase with strength and maturity. But underneath that exterior is a little girl hanging onto the last words her father ever spoke to her. “Make me proud,” he had said. She promised she would...and she’s done her best over the past seven years with every choice, with every word, with every action.
Livie walks into Princeton with a solid plan, and she’s dead set on delivering on it: Rock her classes, set herself up for medical school, and meet a good, respectable guy that she’s going to someday marry. What isn’t part of her plan are Jell-O shots, a lovable, party animal roommate she can’t say ‘no’ to, and Ashton, the gorgeous captain of the men’s rowing team. Definitely him. He’s an arrogant ass who makes Livie’s usually non-existent temper flare and everything she doesn’t want in a guy. Worse, he’s best friends and roommates with Connor, who happens to fits Livie’s criteria perfectly. So why does she keep thinking about Ashton?
As Livie finds herself facing mediocre grades, career aspirations she no longer thinks she can handle, and feelings for Ashton that she shouldn’t have, she’s forced to let go of her last promise to her father and, with it, the only identity that she knows.

Before I read the second or third book in a series, I always get nervous. Especially when I really loved the first one. I wonder if the rest of the books can live up to the first. Sometimes, they don't and I am left disappointed but sometimes they do. And when they do live up to my expectations of that first book, I am usually blown away.
Which is the case with One Tiny Lie!! K.A. Tucker definitely does not disappoint.
This book has a completely different vibe than Ten Tiny Breaths. Which i believe is perfect because that is exactly how it should be. We still get a little of Trent and Kacey here, but OTL in not their book. It it is Livie's and she deserved her own voice, her own set of life experiences.
Livie embarks on the start of her new life at Princeton College. And she makes the most of her first night there (thanks to some strong encouragement of her sister and a mystery source). All I will say about that night is....jell-o shots. That should give you a pretty good idea how her night went!! And it kind of sets the theme for the start of her college adventures. And it was fun to read about her letting loose!! But of course, no real world experience is all unicorns and rainbows. There are hard choices Livie is faced with and some of choices she makes are not pretty.
This book is about Livie's journey of self discovery. Yes, there are boys (OMG I am in total love with Ash and he is my new BBF *sighs*). Where was I again....oh yeah..the boys. There is Ash and Connor, who both catch Livie's eye and because of that she makes some decisions that we may not all agree with. But isn't that what life is all about? Making mistakes and learning from them?
Livie had been living in a bubble of sorts since her parents died, so she needed to spread her wings and experience the real world. Some of the things she goes through are tough. Her whole world is changing at a rapid pace, and she is not sure what to make of it. There are also some pretty embarrassingly funny moments as well, like how she is constantly inside her own head (I kept imagining being the person having the conversation with her and watching her just zone out!).
I am now eagerly awaiting the next book in this series!

Born in small-town Ontario, Kathleen published her first book at the age of six with the help of her elementary school librarian and a box of crayons. She is a voracious reader and the farthest thing from a genre-snob, loving everything from High Fantasy to Chick Lit. Kathleen currently resides in a quaint small town outside of Toronto with her husband, two beautiful girls, and an exhausting brood of four-legged creatures.

I read Ten Tiny Breaths and was knocked off my feet. I can't wait to read Livie's story. And the fact that there will be more books in this series is just sprinkles on top of it all. You can never go wrong with sprinkles.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like such a good book and has been on my TBR list for awhile. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading Ten Tiny Breaths, I got attached to Livie. She was like a soothing balm to her sister, and now I would like to know what happens to her. If she gets her HEA.
ReplyDeleteI'm really looking forward to reading Livie's story. There was so much healing and forgiving that needed to happen in Ten Tiny Breaths but for Livie there was still a whole lot of growing up that needed to happen. Thanks for the giveaway!
