Review: Disclosire of the Heart by Mary Whitney
Disclosure of the Heart (Beside Your Heart Series, Book #2)
By: Mary Whitney
Sixteen years is a long time to wait for your true love to reappear, and, anyway, Nicki Johnson couldn’t wait for the impossible to happen. Hard life lessons have taught her that fairy tales are children’s stories, and fate is cruel. Burying her hopes, she’s spent the last sixteen years focused and driven toward her career, and it’s landed her with a job at the White House with a gem of a boyfriend. But when her high school love, Adam Kincaid, walks into the White House as a BBC reporter, Nicki’s world is thrown into turmoil as she relives their past. Adam has come back for her, but has he arrived too late?
We left Nicki and Adam at the end of their high school year after Adam had flown back to England.
Fifteen years later Nicki is now the press secretary for the President of the United States and Adam is working for the BBC.
After all these years would she still remember him, has she moved on with her life, is she happy? Adam wants to know all these answers so he changes his job at the BBC so he can get a chance to see her again. He will now be travelling with all the other press pass reps and have plenty of opportunity to spend time with Nicki.
Nicki has been moving forward with her life, she went to college and has begun a very successful career. She is not married but dating a gorgeous Latin man called Juan. She is flatting with her best friend from high school and is very career driven. She has looked Adam up online recently and seen stories in the tabloids of his romantic exploits.
Here's the thing though, these two really didn't stop loving each other. They have grown as individuals and lots of things have happened over the past 15 years but that intense connection and attraction they had as teenagers is still there.
This is a beautiful story of second chance love and it is lovely to read as it slowly develops and reveals itself to Adam & Nicki and to us the readers.
I really enjoyed this and eagerly await the third instalment in this series.
