After nearly a year and a half of grieving the loss of her husband,
twenty-seven year old Alexa Sullivan Tate is headed back to her hometown after
a decade of being away. She has no idea her high school crush, Jace McAllister,
the guy who stole her heart the same night that he broke it, is more than ready
to pick up the pieces.
Jace has spent the last ten years in the Army defusing bomb after bomb, trying to forget the girl who ignited all his passions. Little does he know that the spark still exists.
Ten years ago they had smoldering chemistry, but the spark between them now might light a fuse that leads to an explosion even Jace can't stop. Not that he wants to. If only Alexa can get past her guilt and trust her heart again.
But how do you put it all on the line when you've already lost everything once before?
*While this is a series, each book will be standalone with spinoff characters.

Jesus effing Christ. Kate used to
be calm and low-maintenance. I’d never met this crazy side of her. Thank God
that’s over. This definitely calls for a beer. I pick up the scattered mail and
start going through it as I head to the kitchen. I’m pulling a Shiner Bock out
of the refrigerator when a postcard catches my eye. I close the refrigerator
door and set the mail down on the counter. I pop the cap off of the beer and
take a healthy swig while reading the information on the card. It’s a reminder
that my ten year high school reunion was coming up this July and I hadn’t
RSVP’d. There was a number for me to call so that I could do just that. I
thought I’d already sent my form in, but apparently not. I’d worked it out so
that I could leave Afghanistan for the week of the reunion. It’d been a long
time since I’d seen all my old buddies, and I really wanted to reconnect. That
was it, no other reason. Seriously. I have no reason to believe that Alexa
would be there with Sierra. And even if she was, she’d have her husband there.
God, I really hope she isn’t going to be there. I’m not sure I could handle
seeing her with him, no matter how long it’s been.
I
leave the kitchen and settle on the couch to finish watching Sports Center. I
dial the number on the card and wait for someone to answer.
“Hello?”
a familiar voice answered.
“Hi,
I’m calling to RSVP for the ten year reunion at NHS this summer. I thought I’d
already done so, but I got a card in the mail requesting that I call this
number.”
“Umm,
there must be some mistake. I’m not taking the names, but my sister is. Oh
well, I can get your name and pass it along. To whom am I speaking?” the voice
asks.
“Huh...
that’s weird. This is the number that was on the card. If you could pass my
information along, that’d be great. This is Jace McAllister and I will be
attending the reun—“I start to say as I hear a loud crash on the other end of
the phone.
“Hello?
Anyone there?” I ask, wondering what in the hell is going on.
“S-sorry.
I, umm, Sierra must’ve written my phone number down instead of hers. Not
accidentally, I’m sure. I’ll let her know that you plan to attend. I’m sure
she’ll be looking forward to seeing you. Have a fantastic day,” the voice that
I now recognize as Alexa’s stammers.
“Wait!
Alexa, can we—“ I try to get out before she cuts me off.
“Jace,
this is probably Sierra’s not so cute way of trying to play matchmaker. I
really can’t deal with this right now. I’ll see you at the reunion.” Click.
After
moving around for much of her life due to being a military brat, Tessa finally
settled in Dayton, Ohio where she lives with her husband, her two cats, and an
ever growing book boyfriend shelf (okay, shelves). Working for the government
by day, and writing by night, she couldn't be more excited to publish her debut
novel. Her Kindle is practically glued to her hands, but when she's not
reading or writing, you can find her rooting on the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals,
and the Ohio State Buckeyes. She loves her sports almost as much as she loves
her books. Her other obsessions include red wine, hot men, country music, and
all things Grace Potter.
GIVEAWAY
5 winners will each receive one $10.00 Amazon Gift Card.
I had to really think about this and to me I end up thinking every new book I read has the ultimate book boyfriend. I really love it though when during a historical romance they take a complete rake and he falls in love and becomes mr perfect!
