Blog Tour Review & Giveaway: Dear Emily by Trudy Stiles

Dear Emily (Forever Family Series, Book #1)
By: Trudy Stiles

Two women. Carly and Tabitha. They each have suffered life-altering events that have left them both traumatically damaged.

Carly Sloan’s life was perfect until her security and innocence was torn from her. The vast repercussions from horrific events threaten to destroy her stability and her chances for a happily ever after. Kyle Finnegan comes into Carly’s life at the height of her turmoil. Can he help her find what she desires most?

Tabitha Fletcher has constantly suffered from a very young age. She has been hiding from her past, which was full of sadness, loss and abuse. She has been so brutally damaged that she has very little hope for redemption. The revolving door of men only leads her deeper into misery.

What circumstance brings these two women together and can they help each other heal? And will they each find what they need?

Redemption.
Love.
Family.

“Dear Emily” is the first book in the “Forever Family” series.

This book is not suitable for young readers. It is intended for mature adults only (18+). It contains strong language, adult/sexual situations, non-consensual sex and some violence.

Carly and Kyle are college sweethearts. They are now married and ready to start a family. But for reasons that you will learn when reading the book, they are unable to conceive on their own. So, they make the decision to adopt. If two people ever deserved the blessing of a child, it would be these two. They are the absolute PERFECT couple! I loved their love for one another. It was clear that they were truly soulmates.

Tabitha has been dealt a horrible hand in life from a very early age. I believe because of her circumstances and upbringing, it causes her to make some pretty poor decisions as an adult. But she realizes that and is trying to get her act together. The first step in that process is recognizing she is in no position to be a mother to her unborn child and makes the decision of giving her up for adoption.

This is where Carly and Tabitha's lives cross paths. Tabby has picked Carly to be the mother to her daughter that she knows she can't be.

This book is SO different than anything I have read in a really long time. I almost felt like it was a memoir of sorts, it felt that real. I believe anyone who is going through an adoption, whether it be the one adopting or the one blessing their child with a better life, should read this book. Even if it is a work of fiction, I think it truly grasps the feelings each side goes through before, during and after the process.

The book alternates between Carly and Tabitha's POV. The chapters are also past and present. Ultimately, it is the reason I gave the book only four stars. I always love a book that gives us dual POV's but this one got to be too much at times with the past and present thing happening with both ladies. There were a couple times in the beginning where I had to go back to the start of the chapter to see who it was I was reading about. Once I knew enough about each character, I was able to follow along with no issues. So, overall it was just a minor issue that probably only bothered me.

The book is beautifully written! Ms. Stiles definitely hit the ground running with her debut novel. I can not wait to read more of Tabitha's story in book two!
