Goodreads Summary:
Kate Armour and Evan Maxwell fell hard and fast for each other while attending college. Their once passionate and loving relationship ended when old scars eventually tore them apart. Two years after their breakup, they're each struggling to piece together what went wrong in an attempt to move forward.
Kate, a no-nonsense bartender, must face her past while attempting to focus on her future.
Evan is stifled by his bitter heart, which threatens each and every relationship he attempts after walking away from Kate.
Will life offer them a second chance at love or are old patterns simply too hard to break?
My Thoughts:
A true romance story! If you are looking for a book that gives you that warm, fuzzy butterflies in your gut feeling....this is your book!
Although Champagne Toast has some references to Bouquet Toss, it is a stand alone book.
CT is told through both Kate and Evans point of views. I love this because I get to see and feel the deep emotion I felt for these characters! The were very relatable. Their faults were out there along with their strengths.
I also loved that this was not a tie it in a bow romance. It was gradual over a very long period of time. We get to learn the pre-part of their relationship which helped with the connection of the characters.
The only issue I had with the past and present is I wish it would have been written with the date the days/weeks/months/years that had passed. I found myself going back to the previous chapter so see how much time had progressed.
Overall, I really liked this book! It is a true romance. I recommend it to everyone looking for a little romance!
