Review & Book Tour: A Beautiful Lie by T.E. Sivec Book Tour

3.5 Review

Goodreads Summary

He saw her first, but his friend made the move.

She settled for the safer choice, but her heart knew the truth.

They love, they crave, they lie.

Garrett McCarthy, Annabelle Parker, and Milo Roberts were as close as friends could get. They shared in each other's joy during graduations, promotions, and engagements. They consoled one another through heartache and loss.

When one of the friend's life is tragically cut short, it's up to the two left behind to pick up the pieces and find out the truth - no matter the cost. As they slowly start to uncover the nature of his deception, and the very powerful people behind it, they begin to question everyone and everything, even themselves.

Everyone has secrets - some do it for love while others do it for power. Those secrets can change perceptions, alter reality and sometimes destroy lives.

What do you do when you find out your whole life has been a lie?

My Thoughts:
The Beautiful Lie takes you on a suspenseful ride always asking the question—‘What is going on?’ There are so many twists and turns and surprises in store while reading!

I really did love the storyline.  I was intrigued and wanted to know the who’s and what’s of it.  And believe me—my jaw hit the floor a couple of times from things I was not expecting!  I loved the action and suspense of the book.  I also loved the location.  The sunny beach...yes please!  I would love to see the hot, hunky, SEAL Garrett in board shorts!

Speaking of Garrett, let me just say that he is a dream man;  one who fights for our country, kind, considerate, sexy as hell and an overall awesome guy!  I was swooning on him pretty good.  I loved his confidence and smarts; made him soooo desirable!

I am have total admiration for Parker.  I was stunned, shocked, was like....what??  I admire her courage, bravery and strength.

Tara’s writing of the bedrooms scenes were unbelievably hot!  I was in awe in the first scene.  I felt it.  Totally. Utterly. Felt. It.  The second was so fierce and raw!  YUMMY!  The chemistry was spark on for these two.

While it had a great storyline, my biggest issue in reading was the way I was told the story.  I felt as if the book was a narrative. Like, I was being told the story from someone up above, as opposed to the characters telling me.  I missed the character dialogue, which didn’t pick up till towards the end.  This caused me to have a disconnect with the characters, at times.  It also switched POVs so much that I had a really hard time figuring out who was talking.  There were several times where I had to stop reading and go back to see who was saying a line.  If not for these two major things for me, I would have given the book 4.5 hands down.
