Evie Jamieson, a former wild child, is not only a
headstrong, smart-mouthed trouble magnet; she is also a lead singer with a
plan. That plan involves relocating her band; including her two best friend’s
guitarist Henry and band manager Mac, to Sydney to kick off their dreams of
hitting the big time.
Jared Valentine is the older brother of Evie's best friend Mac and also the man determined to make Evie his. They strike up a long distance friendship which suits Evie because she's determined to avoid the distraction of love, not only because it doesn't fit in with her plan but because twice in the past it has left her for dead. Moving to Sydney however, has put her directly in Jared's path and he has decided it's the perfect opportunity to make his play.
Unfortunately Jared, co-owner in a business that 'consults' in dangerous hostage and kidnapping situations, makes an enemy who's determined to enact revenge. When this enemy puts Evie in his sights, Jared not only has a fight on his hands to make her his own, but also to keep her alive.
Is accepting the love he's so desperate to give worth the risk to both her heart...and her life?

I hate when I read a book and don't love it. Especially one that everyone else seems to be head over heels for. It makes me ask myself, is there something wrong with me? Such was the case with Give Me Love. i thought it was just okay, There were some good parts, but just not enough to make me love it. I try and remind myself that there have been books I have absolutely loved and others not so much. Which made me feel a bit better. This experience is a perfect reminder that "no two people ever read the same book".
I honestly can not pinpoint any specific thing that didn't work for me. The book was well written, especially for a first time author. I was a bit thrown a few times by the Aussie slang, but it definitely didn't make me like the book any less. If anything, it taught me some new words that i can use to drive my hubby crazy, which is always a good thing!
I think it may be that the story just dragged at times. I kept losing interest in the storyline because there were moments that nothing was really happening. And I never really connected with the characters. And that is something that is a must for me to love a story. I want to feel what they are feeling as I read. That never happened with anyone from this book and i think it was because there were just so many of them. They were all likable characters, I just felt I needed more focus on Evie and Jared.
I kept stopping and reading other books, hoping when I came back to this one something would happen to suck me into the storyline and the characters. But it never really did.You do get a bit of everything with this one, though. Suspense, romance, angst, misunderstandings, lack of communication. There is also a HEA and NO cliffhanger.
So, in closing I will say, even though this is not a book I loved, it is one I liked. I would recommend giving it a chance especially since there is not a cliffhanger. We all know how hard those are to come by nowadays!
"I don’t know, I think it sounds kinda nice right about now."
"Coby!"
He grabbed my arm from where it was busily stuffing a pillow into a pillowcase. "Stop. Just fucking stop." He shoved me over until I was sitting on the bed, and then stood back to rake a hand through his hair. "If you think I’m going to sit by and leave you as a target, then you’re the one with loose screws. Dammit, honey, I almost lost you twice. I can’t take that shit again. I’m scared okay? Fucking scared and I’m not the only who feels that way." He blew out a shaky breath. "I won’t lose you."
"Coby, I understand your reasons, I really do, but I’m not going to give up everything I’ve ever worked for because of some assclown lunatic. I’m sorry, I just can’t and I won’t."
I finished tucking the pillowcase on and chucked the pillow onto the makeshift bed.
"Do you have some grand plan to go out in a blaze of glory? Because this isn’t the movies, Evie, and you don’t come back from a bullet in the head."
– Evie Jamieson and her brother Coby.
